How to Win at Craps in Vegas
Viva, Las Vegas! If you have never been to Las Vegas, it’s about time. I can only tell — hundreds of memorable moments and many big wins; these are two things that are synonymous with this city, in my case.
Playing craps there is fantastic. The atmosphere you can experience while hanging out with other gamblers is irreplaceable. I love online gambling, but… Vegas is Vegas!
Yet, to enjoy your craps sessions to the fullest, I invite you to read my tips on how to raise your chances of winning at craps in Vegas. Let’s go!
Navigation Vegas Craps Tables
I am not sure what is easier — researching the ocean with a submarine or navigating Vegas craps tables. In both cases, things are pretty simple (of course, I was not navigating the submarine). Here are three things you need to have in mind to find what suits you the most.
Finding the Best Tables
I really don’t know which casino you plan to visit there. Something I can guarantee is that there will be tables for everyone. Before everything, I recommend you walk around every casino you visit. Be like a spy and research the entire gaming floor. Try to notice in every corner how many tables there are and who is sitting there.
Look for craps tables with favorable odds and lower minimum bets. The second feature is essential if you are playing with a moderated budget. If you can’t read the rules of the table, don’t hesitate to ask the dealer.
Understanding Vegas-Specific Rules
All Vegas craps have some common rules. Don’t worry, it is not anything complicated.
There are two outcomes where you automatically win or lose:
- If the first roll of a dice is either 7 or 11 (natural), you lose instantly.
- If the first roll is a 2 or 3, you win! In case the dice roll of 12 appears on the table, you have a tie.
The third rule is slightly challenging to understand. If you roll a point, which includes 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, the 7 must come out before the point is repeated. That’s the only scenario where you win. In case that doesn’t happen, and the point is rolled before the seven, you lose.
All these rules are easy to understand. I recommend you analyze and remember them to ensure that your strategy is properly adjusted.
Capitalizing on Casino Comps
Casino comps are there to make your time at the Vegas casino more entertaining and relaxing.
I remember so-called happy hours that made my day. There were two types of benefits I could enjoy:
- The first one was free drinks between 7 PM and 9 PM. I didn’t take too much, only a glass or two of wine to relax and enjoy the night more.
- The second time, I got the chance to claim a cashback bonus if I deposited more than $500. That return helped me multiply my initial capital 20 times.
Ultimately, you can become a member of the players club. VIP visitors usually get personalized service from the employees, better tables with higher limits, and so on. Logically, this works only for more experienced players.
Timing and Environment Strategies
When to go to the Vegas casino and play craps? What types of environment suits your gambling preference? These are all the answers you need to answer yourself before entering the gaming floor. If you can’t answer, let me do that instead of you!
Best Time to Play
You have to determine on your own what suits you more.
If you like noise and crowds, playing craps after 9 PM is a better choice. Indeed, that period brings more opportunities to establish some wonderful memories. However, your focus may go down, and it will be harder to find a free spot at minimum bet tables.
In different circumstances, if you love to gamble in silence, visit Vegas casinos between 3 PM and 8 PM.
Dealing with High-Energy Environments
So, how to stay focused when there are tons of people around you? Even if there aren’t too many of them, you still need to accept that there won’t be a complete peace.
I, personally, chat with people between the rounds. We together comment on the eventual outcomes for the further rounds. The good news is that most people do understand your desire to stay focused. They have the same goal.
Put in your subconsciousness that craps is your main priority. If you just want to have fun, go to a club or restaurant. Whenever you get nervous because of a losing strike, leave the casino. There is no reason to spend a second there.
Networking with Other Players
Networking with other craps lovers can be helpful in multiple ways:
For starters, you can be sure your sessions will be more entertaining. I often find friends with whom we put the same bets. Logically, we divide the wins equally (in case we manage to predict the outcome).
It may happen that you’d be surrounded by more experienced players. I need to highlight that such an opportunity is mostly possible at those tables that have higher limits. Yet, exceptions do exist.
Definitely, the best thing would be to meet a local there. He or she can guide you through town, which ensures a much better trip.
Vegas-Specific Betting Strategies
Now, how to gamble in Vegas when playing craps is another mystery that I need to solve for you. Generally speaking, despite organizing your money adequately, you also must be persistent. Chasing the best opportunity is a must since you can’t directly influence the outcome.
Utilizing High Odds Limits
The first reason why I recommend going from one casino to another is to find options that offer higher odds bets. These differences aren’t big, but they can be meaningful eventually. House edge, in some casinos, is lower. On the other hand, some bet types may come with better payout odds.
Moreover, the minimum bet varies from one casino to another. They usually vary from $10 to $25. There are still a few hybrid craps games that come with a minimum of either $5 or $10 per round. Unfortunately, their number isn’t big.
Exploring Unique Side Bets
There are a few types of side bets you can find in Vegas:
- Low Dice, High Dice
- Hard Rockin’ Dice
- Muggsy’s Corner
- Ride the Line, and so on.
These side bets let you predict things that are unconnected with the draw. Still, I don’t recommend playing them, which is why I didn’t even bother to explain them. Side bets are risky, and they can “eat” your money in the blink of an eye. If your budget is not too big, please avoid them. Your sessions will last pretty short.
Managing Your Bankroll in Vegas
Are you really going to spend all your money in a casino? As someone who has gambled regularly for almost 20 years, I consider that a dumb decision. Get more of my wisdom on my page dedicated to casino bankroll.
In advance, decide how many times you plan to go to a casino. Carefully determine whether craps are the only game you want to play. It is mandatory to calculate the deposit for each attempt that you make. In combination with flat betting, you will always have control over your budget.
Las Vegas has a lot to offer; it would be a shame not to visit cool destinations around town. A vibrant environment can lead to overspending, but you need to be stronger than that!
And Now?
Craps in Vegas is a unique opportunity. Not only to have fun, but also to experience the ‘vibe’, to network with other players, and to have a good time! Ensure you pick the right casino and the right craps table, and you’re up for a lot of fun!
